Covid- important informationTue May 03 10:01am
Welcome back to Term 2.I will be away this week as I have just tested positive for Covid. The onset of symptoms was very quick and as a precaution students and staff in Room 2 will wear masks when inside this week.
It was lovely to see our students settle quickly back into school. They have started training for the Cross Country and I can already see that this will be a hotly contested event in three weeks.
Take care and keep covid-free.
Beginning of Term information.Sun May 01 03:11pm
Welcome back to school.
This term we have Quinn, Frank and Becca joining our school. Belated happy birthday wishes for Evie, Kenzie and Ella.
If you have children that attend Amuri Area School then the following messages will sound familiar!
As a staff we have discussed our Waiau School approach to mask wearing and Covid 19 and the decision follows along the same lines as Amuri.
If your child is sick nothing changes from last term so please keep your child home and have a low threshold for testing them if you suspect COVID 19. If they test positive, they and all siblings must isolate for 7 days from either the onset of symptoms or the positive result and can return to school on the 8th day. If your child is well… send them to school. As before, please let us know if your child is isolating and well (maybe they need additional home learning to supplement hard packs sent out in Term 1) or isolating and sick (no expectations for home learning).
Parents are now welcome to come on site and will only need to sign in and wear a mask if you wish to come INSIDE a school building.
A reminder that any person coming into school buildings are normally required to sign in at the office for fire evacuation purposes, regardless of Covid alert status.
Masks for students in class are strongly recommended but not mandatory. With Winter and the ‘flu season approaching, if you still wish for your child to wear a mask that is absolutely fine. We also ask that your child (if they are Year 4+) continues to bring a mask to school every day. There may be times that we’ll ask them to wear a mask.
If there are a high number of cases at school or in the community, we may ask that masks be worn in classrooms for a time.
Trail Ride: Thank you to all of the people working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything goes to plan.
More information will be in our Newsletter- out on Thursday.
