Reminder – Gumboot Friday

Gumboot Friday – Mufti Day today
Apologies for the late notice but we would like to take the opportunity to support the Gumboot Friday Appeal. The children can come to school in mufti and we would love to see them wearing their gumboots. We will do a wellbeing walk around the village in place of the bake sale this year due to the late notice. A gold coin donation would be appreciated if you would like to support.

If you wold like to donate $3 online you can text BOOTS to 469.

Athletics Day.

Please put plenty of sunblock on for today. We have a limited supply of sunblock at school but if you could send/bring along sunblock for your child/ren everyone will be ‘sunsmart’ by reapplying throughout the day. Looking forward to seeing you all at our Athletics Day.

Reminder Athletics Day Tomorrow

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Athletics Day tomorrow starting from 9am. If possible please bring along a small plate to share for morning tea. We encourage students and parents to wear our house colours and make sure you pack your activewear for the parent relay!

Postponement of tomorrow’s trip

Kia ora,Due to illness we have postponed our trip to the Johnson’s Farm  and Lyndon Homestead tomorrow morning. At this stage we will look at rescheduling for Wednesday 9th November.
Thank you to all of you who kindly offered to take children on the trip. We will confirm plans at the end of the week.
In the meantime, limber up for our Parent Relay race on Tuesday at Sports Day ( Thursday- postponement day).

Kaikoura Day Trip

Thursday, 29th September


Kia ora,

At this stage we will be travelling to Kaikoura tomorrow. We will email and send an App message by 8am if we have to cancel the trip.

Here are some reminders so we all get the best out of the day-

Please send along booster seats for those that require them
Packed lunch and a drink bottle of water
A raincoat and a towel ( incase we hit wet weather at the rock pools)
Children are to wear correct school uniform

Our plans for the day are as follows:

            Leave from school at 8:30am ( Families up near Mt Lyford will travel from there)

Head to Hapuku School to present our Kapa Haka items and have morning tea ( approx 9:45-11:30)

Drive to Scarborough Street to view Ngā Niho Pa site ( 11:30-12:00)

Head to South Bay- Parking in the car park on the right opposite the race track. Walk over to the Statues on the corner.

Get back into vehicles, drive to Rock Pools at the end of South Bay

Have lunch and then complete tasks- locating and identifying various rock pool creatures

We will then pack up and be ready to head back along the Inland Road route leaving approx 2pm, returning to school shortly after 3 in time for the buses.

Hapuku School is  about 5 minutes out of Kaikōura on the right hand side of the road to Blenheim.

Thank you to all of the parents that are transporting us over to Kaikōura.

Book Week book exchange

This will happen today at lunchtime. If your child/ren have a book they are allowed to swap with another child please send along the book this morning with the signed permission slip inside. No books will be swapped unless we have your permission. This is a Book Week event and  is open to those who wish to exchange books. This book exchange does not involve our Scholastic books on sale in the hall.

We can’t wait to see students dressed in their favourite book character costumes. Parade will start around 9:30 on the court/ library verandah if wet.
